The Artist's Way Week 2 - Recovering Self Identity

Week 2 now available on YouTube!

Week 2 is all about recovering yourself and creating boundaries. The more we discover who we are, what we stand for, what our values are the more we are able to create specific habits and boundaries. The more we are able to recognize what is out of alignment. The more we can create a life that IS in alignment.

Some of my favorite gems from this chapter learning how to trust our creativity. When we learn how to trust our art, in turn we can trust ourselves. She mentions poisonous playmates aka people who ain’t right for you. It’s the people who don’t root for you. It’s the people that are not in alignment with your creativity or your future. She reminds us that we should not expect an applause or cheers from our blocked friends. They have their own work to do. And if there’s one thing I’ve learned from people is that people meet you where they’re at, never where you’re at with it. Their ideas, views and life experiences are very different from yours so we can’t expect that to understand our art or our lives. At those moments, stand firm in who you are and what you stand for. The rest will fall in alignment. It always does. It’s important to create the necessary boundaries we need to protect our peace, our art, and our hearts.
